According to its central placement, Bologna is linked by the most important autostrada that connect it to all parts of Italy, from the North to the South, from the East to the West and with all the neighbour countries.
Fron the North, principal autostrada are: A1, "Autostrada del Sole", that connect Bologna to Milan and Florence and, joining with A22, to Austria and Germany; A13 from Trieste, Udine, Venice, Padova, Ferrara. From the South it is necessary to cross A1 from Rome, while from East A14 connect Bologna to Ancona and Bari.

Bologna is the most important level-crossing keeper's house of the country and, given its gifted position, it takes advantage of every type of modernization. Together with the development of railway lines Intercity and Eurostar, it has a daily connection not only with the rest of italian towns but also with main european cities.
